Tandoori Chicken (grilled chicken)
Tandoori chicken is highly popular Indian dish consisting of roasted chicken, yogurt, and spices. Best thing about this recipe is its very easy to make.
Ingredients
- 8 chicken leg quarters, cut into 2 pieces
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons  garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon chilli powder
- 11/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon tumeric
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Directions
With a fork, prick holes in the chicken pieces, this helps the chicken to get flavors inside. In a blender put all the spices, ginger, garlic, yogurt and lemon juice, and process to a smooth paste.
Pour the marinade over the chicken peices. Turn to coat evenly, rubbing the marinade into the holes and slits.
Cover and refrigerate for  6- 8hrs hours, I usually marinade it the previous night.
Preheat a grill.
Place the chicken on the grill, I like to use aluminium sheet as it prevents the chicken from sticking.
Turn, baste as needed, and cook . Turn and continue cooking, as necessary until the chicken is cooked through, but still tender,30 45 Â mins.
(if you are baking it in owen, Â preheated 400 degrees F oven on a baking sheet for 40 minutes.)
