Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Making homemade pancake batter allows you to customize breakfast. Few simple ingredients are all it takes to make these nutritious, whole-grain pancakes. Home made pancake mix is a easy way to be creative. Using whole wheat flour and buttermilk make these pancakes very fluffy and extremely tasty.

  1. Preheat non-stick griddle or non-stick skillet to medium heat.
  2. In large bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg together until well mixed. Gently stir in dry ingredients(whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and sugar) until combined. Batter will be thick!
  3. Lightly grease hot griddle with butter. Pour batter onto hot surface, spreading into a thin circle. Cook until bottom has browned and bubbles start appearing on top of the surface (1-2 minutes). Flip and cook 30 more seconds. Remove and serve immediately OR store in a warm oven.
